Hey archers!

With the summer heat really starting this week, it’s a great opportunity to change up the range. We’ve moved the shooting line back into the shade and set the targets at unknown distances.

Why would we do this?

Training the archer
We want to foster a growth mindset in practice. Rather than aiming for “perfect,” we’re aiming for understanding—and that’s a much stronger foundation.

When we shoot at the same target, from the same distance, at the same angle over and over, we build consistency—but also over time complacency. This repetition helps refine the mechanics, but can also limit adaptability.

By introducing variable distances and angles, we add a small challenge to encourage our brain and body to recalibrate and build versatility.

Connecting with history
Historically, archery wasn’t practiced in neat lanes with even spacing, archers often had to make quick decisions, adjust for terrain, and shoot from less-than-ideal stances.

By mimicking that diversity at the range, even in small ways, we honor that legacy and develop well-rounded skill.
